There are four essential elements of ACA qualification that must be successfully completed to be eligible for ICAEW membership. These are the 15 exams, practical experience (PWE), professional directors (PD) and ethics and professional skepticism (ELP). In addition, students must enter into a training contract lasting at least three years and submit regularly during this period to an evaluation/verification of progress with your employer. If you have completed these items in your training file and your employer has completed the final opt-out, you will be invited to become a member of the ICAEW after processing your training materials. It also provides a structure for the training process and provides a definite starting and finishing point – so you know when a student is going to finish their studies. This bilateral agreement between you and your students describes the support you will provide (for example. B paid education, study leave and tutoring) and what you expect from them. To complete the ACA`s qualification, you must achieve the required work experience. However, it is possible to start your ACA trip without a training contract as an independent student. You can control the length of your students` approved training. This period must be at least two years (if any, as above) or a maximum of five years (unless the student is trained in a strategic degree or other program offered in partnership with an ICAEW learning partner). The ICAEW encourages students to stay with their employer as much as possible for the duration of their training contract. If you are partially changing employers, it must be an ICAEW Registered Training Employer (ATE) in order for your ACA training to continue.
In addition, any new employer may require you to take hands-on experience or additional training to demonstrate your skills and help them recover the training costs. A training agreement for each new employer should last at least three months and include at least 65 days of practical experience. To become an ICAEW, you must enter into a training agreement with an organization authorized by the ICAEW. Do not accept an offer elsewhere without first discussing your training, development and reasons for wanting to go with your QPRT or advisor. Be sure to let us know about any changes immediately. If in doubt, call the helpline on (0) 1908 248 250. Please complete the appropriate sections of the change to a training form: it is important that you encourage and follow the development of your students throughout the training contract, not only to ensure that your students receive the necessary training to qualify as an accountant, but also to encourage your student to stay with your organization as soon as they are qualified. We`ve created a series of webinars and podcasts to develop technical and professional skills to help you through all stages of your ACA training.
